A Voice of Gladness: An Introduction

Who are we?

We are a mother and daughter team.

Lynsie — As the “daughter”, I am a 30-something wife and novice dance partner to the greatest American soldier serving in Iraq/ballroom dance instructor. I’m a homemaker, full-time paper pusher, and aspirer to be “a great many things” (such as a quoter of movies– can you guess what that quote is from?).

Dottie — The “mother”, wife to an amazing husband/father/Engineer Consultant/Photographer (see “About” on header photo), a mother to 6 children, grandmother to 13, a soon to be published author, county archivist, assistant to 91 year old mother-in-law, and is a great many other things.

With a 27 year gap between the two of us, we have our differences and that will be evident in our posts. This variance is why we are sharing a blog.

Why are we here?

Mom and I have had good intentions of collaborating on a project for a number of years. One of our known character traits is to be indecisive at times, but although the specifics of our projects have evolved through those years, two main objectives have remained constant: We want to share our love of the written word and we desire to be a voice of gladness to all within our reach. We will be blogging about the joy in our personal experiences, positive observations of others, or wisdom we’ve read.

My grandmother, Mom’s mom, Samuella Hawkins, was one of the greatest examples of one who believed in and lived the power of positive thinking. All who knew her would agree. We’d like to think she rubbed off on us and we may quote her quite often. Happy Talk is just one endeavor to continue her legacy.
